Description

Setting setuid or setgid with chmod

To setuid:

# chmod u+s dir | file

To setgid:

# chmod g+s dir | file

Meaning:

rwSrwSrwS ( "S" = "S - x" setuid/setgid but not executable)
rwsrwsrws ( "s" = "s + x" setuid/setgid and executable)
Example

chmod u+s file
