how to increase the queue_depth on a hdisk in IBM AIX |
Description
To change the queue_depth on a hdisk on AIX, the following command can be run:
# chdev -l hdisk# -a queue_depth=# -P
This setting requires that the disk be removed and brought back into the system. This can be accomplished with a reboot or the following commands:
1. unmount and vary off the VG that the disk is part of. 2. rmdev -l hdisk# 3. mkdev -l hdisk#
NOTE: Make sure that you either do not exceed the maximum queue_depth for your SAN or talk to a SAN representative if there is an existing large number of connections to the SAN. |
Example
chdev -l hdisk2 -a queue_depth=8 -P |
